In June 2024, the village of Thoard in southern France welcomed around 30 participants for the second annual seminar of the Med Trails Network. Gathering representatives from partner organizations and invited guests, the event aimed to reflect collectively on common challenges, explore future opportunities, and improve on-the-ground trail activities across the Mediterranean.
The week’s agenda featured discussions on the economic impact of trails, climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation, and the role of trail ecosystems in fostering community-based tourism. Each destination shared a sectoral diagnosis, highlighting common issues such as limited financial resources, institutional hurdles, and the lack of reliable monitoring tools.
